Community Guidelines

We work together as a community by:

  • giving credit and/or referring back to original sources:

  • let us know about the outcome if you’ve collaborated or gotten help or a connection from the community,

… and get featured in our newsletter

  • being respectful of each other’s time and resources:

  • do not ask for unpaid work and/or reputational favours,

  • it’s okay to ask for advice or help - just think how you can return the favour and agree on it beforehand,

  • be ready to accept “no” as an answer and learn to say “no” yourself,

  • respecting the person we engage with:

  • be a good listener,

  • be curious about other people’s work,

  • avoid patronising or giving unsolicited advice to others,

  • recognising that we don’t always have to agree:

  • respect the other person’s experience or opinion even if it’s different from your own,

  • ask clarifying questions,

  • disagreement doesn’t mean arguing,

  • don’t be afraid to move on from an uncomfortable topic.

These guidelines exist for community health so feel free to refer or link back to them in interactions as needed.
